Formed 1988, 501 (C) (3) organization

Dear Briarwood Friends,

Our club provides us with a great deal of enjoyment, fun and community. One of the Briarwood’s great annual events is Scholarship Day, which was specifically formed to provide educational financial assistance to our employees and/or their children. Many members tell us that Scholarship night is the highlight of the season.

On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, we will host the 36th annual Briarwood Scholarship Day. Since its inception in 1989, the Foundation has awarded over 535 scholarships totaling over $2,400,000! In 2023, we gave out 27 grants totaling $159,000. The scholarship program is a great source of pride for Briarwood members as we show support and appreciation for our wonderful staff whom we like to refer to as our Briarwood family. Our success and longevity have prompted other clubs in the area to create similar programs with their members.

The Foundation raises almost all of its annual funding during the weeks leading up to Scholarship Day. The contributions are vital to meet the growing needs of our scholarship recipients, whose costs continue to rise. In addition to our creative golf event, we also have a number of other opportunities to donate.

We are continuing our “Recognized Donor” Support levels (Par, Birdie, Eagle and Ace) for stand-alone gifts made separate of any other donations and costs for the day.

  • Ace: $2,500 and above
  • Eagle: $1,000 – $2,499
  • Birdie: $500 – $999
  • Par: $250 – $499

The Briarwood Scholarship Foundation (BSF) board is sensitive to the many requests you receive from other organizations in the greater community and beyond, and we are always humbled by your generous support.,

Because the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and the Club is not, we have received legal advice that we must maintain financial separation between the Foundation and the Club. To accomplish this and maintain as much convenience for you as possible, the Foundation now has its own link for registration and collection of donations. The flat $100 annual charge for each member will continue as that is deemed a gift from the Club to the Foundation, however the various event fees and individual donations will now be handled directly by the Foundation. Donations and payments can be made (i) via check payable to Briarwood Scholarship Foundation and mailed or dropped off to Dustin Hoffart in the Club’s accounting department or (ii) by clicking through this “Donate Link”. If you have any issues or questions about the “Donate Link”, please contact Dustin Hoffart at 847-850-1123 for assistance.

The Scholarship Board appreciates that for many of you giving to the Foundation each year is an important part of your Briarwood experience and pride, and for that we offer our sincerest, deepest gratitude.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support. We look forward to seeing you on August 6th!

Sincerely,

The Briarwood Scholarship Foundation Directors
